Bedford County Fire Department (BCFD) serves approximately 46,000 residents within a 482 square-mile radius of Bedford County, Tennessee. Included in this area is the Tennessee Fire Service and Code Enforcement Academy.

The BCFD operates in 8 districts with 9 stations, 140 firefighters and 31 apparatus. Fire Station 1 Headquarters is staffed around the clock by career firefighters. Stations 2-9 are staffed completely by volunteer firefighters. Station 1 also uses volunteers for manpower on an as-needed basis. All of our Volunteer Departments, with the exception of Wartrace Fire Department (Station 6) and Bell Buckle Fire Department (Station 7) are entities of the BCFD. Wartrace Fire Department and Bell Buckle Fire Department are stand-alone volunteer departments that have signed automatic mutual aid agreements with the BCFD. We also stand ready to assist Shelbyville Fire Department as requested.

In addition to fire suppression and prevention, the BCFD also provides light and heavy rescue, emergency medical first response and public fire education. The BCFD, in coordination with other agencies, provides HAZMAT response as well.
