Bedford County is a member of the Interlocal Solid Waste Authority.

Household waste can be brought to eight recycling and convenience centers, located throughout the county. The El Bethel center has longer hours than the other seven to accomodate the public. The centers serve all Bedford County residents but are for household garbage only, not commercial businesses.

Used tires (without rims) can be brought to the tire collection center on State Route 82 south of Shelbyville. There's a $2 charge for each tire accepted for disposal.

The county's non-recyclable waste is transported to  Waste Management at Cedar Ridge Landfill in Lewisburg.  During the 2019-2020 fiscal year, tonnage was 10,638 tons to the landfills at a cost of $318,813.

The hours listed below are subject to change for holidays or other conditions.
